
Reference: OPS10192 Location: Libya Safety Specialist with oil field production related experience. The incumbents must have Technical College/ University or Recognised Safety/ Fire qualifications and minimum of 10-15 years experience of regular duties & responsibilities.
Ensure that all fire protection and safety equipment, including personnel protective equipment and testing devices are regularly inspected and properly maintained.
If necessary, develop written procedure to be followed in the event of fire.
Form fire brigade for employees from the area and conduct training and exercises until proficiency is attained.
Assist fire brigade with fire drills.
Conduct training for all area’s employees in fire ad accident prevention activities and in the use off all safety equipment.
Ensure that adequate stock of parts, recharging equipment are on hand to service fire protection and safety.
Ensure that reserve supplies of fire fighting materials are on hand to combat fires of major proportions.
Make regular inspections of equipment and installations of hazardous conditions.
Routinely observe work practises of employees, note unsafe work practises, if any.
Submit reports of hazardous conditions and unsafe work practises with recommendations for corrective action to appropriate supervisors.
Assist area supervisors in investigating reportable fire and accidents.
Act as liaison between safety Department and Field Superintendent.
In staff capacity assist supervisors in implementing the safety policy of the company.
Keep appraised of Government Laws, regulations, and orders applicable to fire and safety matters and advice supervisors of their responsibilities.
Promote interest and active participation by supervisors, employees and contractors in accident and fire prevention activities.
Ensure that fire protection and safety maintenance plans are executed efficiently.
Submit report, as required to immediate supervisor.
Supervise, train and develop employees under supervision.
Any other duties assigned as and when required by the company.
