The job function includes but it is not limited to the following:
§ Lead and/or participate in the multi-disciplinary team assessments to create additional value from Company assets, followed by development and implementation of reservoir exploitation plans.
§ Provide technical direction in assessment and implementation of improved oil recovery (IOR) and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) schemes on existing assets.
§ Provide technical input in the pros and cons of horizontal well applications on a case-by-case basis.
§ Analyse in deep reservoirs and well performances, determining deviations and recommending remedial actions and innovative solutions to improve the production and maximize the oil recovery
§ Conduct and/or lead in-house reservoir simulation studies, including model construction, history-matching and predicting scenarios.
§ Conduct and/or lead in-house economic evaluations, including risk analysis.
§ Prepare Scope of Work studies to be conducted by outside consultants. Participate in technical evaluation of consultants’ proposals. Follow study progress and report same. Evaluate consultants’ work for acceptance of deliverables.
§ Review field operations and production for potential production improvement opportunities.
§ Prepare or review programs for completion, workover and production related activities.
§ Update reserve estimates and provide timely reporting of changes, based on drilling and/or workover results.
§ Coordinate annual review of reserves.
§ Establish and maintain a communication link with other departments (drilling, geology, operations and facilities) for professional exchange of views and timely team solutions to problems.
§ Prepare yearly budget requirements.
§ Prepare information, as requested, for the Company Planning Department.
§ Prepare and present professional presentations for technical meetings.
§ Prepare professional presentations for the Manager to present to Owners’.
§ Keep current on new, state-of-the-art technology, process and software.
§ Have an active role in personnel development in the Department through supervision, work reviews, training and mentoring.
§ Strengths in reservoir engineering, production engineering and economics. Knowledge of production geology would also be considered an asset.
§ Production Engineering experience is an asset.
§ 15+ years of proven experience in oil and gas reservoirs; international experience will be considered an asset.
§ Must have an accredited Engineering or Geosciences degree, preferably with an advanced degree in Petroleum Engineering.
§ An MBA would also be considered an asset.
